Three Events on Weekend Docket for Indoor Track & Field

BOSTON – Suffolk men's and women's indoor track & field will split up for a trio of events this weekend with the River Hawk Invitational, the Husky Invitational and the Wheaton Lyon Invitational on tap this weekend. Action at Lowell spans both days, Jan. 24-25, while competition at Southern Maine and Wheaton is set for Saturday only.

LAST TIME OUT [ MEN ] 
One Ram qualified for New Englands and 10 from Suffolk men's indoor track & field rewrote personal records at the New Balance Collegiate Showdown Saturday at the Track at New Balance.

LAST TIME OUT [ WOMEN ] 
Suffolk women's indoor track & field had three student-athletes earn their spot at New Englands Saturday as the Rams competed at the New Balance Collegiate Showdown at the Track at New Balance.

RIVER HAWK INVITATIONAL REVIEW

  • Tim Barry will race his first 800 of the season. He will not only attempt to qualify for New England's but secure the top 20 nationally. 
  • Thomas Novy will make his season debut racing the mile in preparation for a qualifying attempt next weekend. 
  • Sean Jacobsen will join Novy in the mile.
  • Michael Makiej will high jump and attempt to break the school record for the third straight meet. 
  • Michael Nossek likewise will look to lower his school records in the 60 and 200, respectively. 
  • Joshua Durand and Nathan Fernandes will both aim to qualify for regionals in the 400. 
  • Hilma Ortega will look for a new personal record in the 60 to get down to 8.0. She will be joined by JJ ContehAmanda Walden and Kayle Groom in the dash. 
  • Kaylie Groom will also run the 200 and 400 with Emily Concepcion joining her in the latter. 
  • Shannon Groom will race the 500 with the goal of rewriting the school record. 
  • Sofia Moukadeem will run her first-ever 800. 
  • Amy Pattelena will begin her season in the mile. She will be joined by Bailey Ford
  • In the 3k, Amalia Dorion and Sydney Fogg will both look to qualify for New Englands, while the former attempts to break her school record in the event.

HUSKY INVITATIONAL 

  • Nico Carrillo will have a busy day as he continues to prepare for his first heptathlon next month. He will high jump, long jump and throw shot put. 
  • Connor Brown will also throw the shot put and Elijah Brown will be in the weight throw. 
  • Tighe Hosman will also have a full day of competition as he runs the 55m, 55m hurdles and triple jumps. 
  • Evelyn Lansing has had a great start to the season coming off an injury and will be competing in both the long jump and high jump. 
  • The women throwers will attempt to qualify in the 55 hurdles. 
  • Catherine Madden will attempt to qualify in the 55 hurdles. 
  • Jaenelle Bryant will race the 600, while Maria Gallant will race the 800. 
  • Aida Bellal will compete in the both the 60 and 200.
