Indoor Track & Field Heads to Joe Donahue Games for First Semester Finale

 


BOSTON – Suffolk indoor track & field will compete one final time in 2019 before breaking for finals and the holidays as it is set to compete at Northeastern's Joe Donahue Games Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Reggie Lewis Center.

LAST TIME OUT [ MEN ] 
Suffolk splits its opening-weekend with a contingent representing the Rams at the Emmanuel Invitational and Matyas Csiki-Fejer racing against foes from every NCAA Division at Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Invitational.  

Csiki-Fejer ran to the challenge per se, producing what is now the sixth-best Division III 3K time of 8:36.53 to punch his ticket to New Englands. Across town, Michael Balestra had the standout showing with his own regionals qualifying performance in the weight throw.

LAST TIME OUT [ WOMEN ] 
In its season debut, Suffolk competed at both the Emmanuel Invitational and Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.  

Emily Manfra represented the Rams at BU with a school-record 5K time of 17:41.49 to secure her spot at New Englands, while Allison Rodrigues anchored a standout showing at the Emmanuel Invitational with a shot put throw of 11.24 to punch her tickets to regionals as well.

JOE DONAHUE GAMES FIELD
Ten different foes will participate in Northeastern's event Saturday. The Rams are one of four NCAA Division III schools headed to the Reggie Lewis Center with Bridgewater State, UMass Boston and Williams all making the trip along with the host Huskies and Assumption, Boston College, Boston University, Holy Cross, Merrimack and Stonehill.

With such a competitive field, Suffolk's athletes will have a chance to set new personal bests. Ram Nation is encouraged to be on the lookout for Cole BolducRobert Solari and Olivia Chilcott who all have the potentially to punch their tickets to New Englands in their respective events.

RAMS RECOGNITION
The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) released its first-ever indoor track & Field awards and the Suffolk indoor track & field team team swept the men's categories as Matyas Csiki-Fejer was named athlete of the week and Cole Bolduc was tabbed Rookie of the week.

MANFRA MENTIONABLES
As the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced its inaugural indoor track & field awards, Emily Manfra of Suffolk picked up the first athlete of the week honor for her showing against some of the nation's top runners at Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.

COMING UP
Suffolk has nearly a month off and will be back in action next year when it participates at the Tufts Invitational Saturday, Jan. 18.
