Manfra Races to Regionals in 5K at Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener

BOSTON – Emily Manfra had an eventful day at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University Saturday.

The senior captain from Stoneham, Massachusetts, raced in the 5K against the biggest NCAA Division I competition including the 2019 NCAA DI Champion Weini Kelati of New Mexico as well as runners from BYU, Oregon and Arkansas. Suffolk's standout made her place known and even with losing her shoe in lap three, she closed out the remaining 22 one shoe down and produced a school-record 5K time of 17:41.49. That time, which was good for 46th overall out of 71 runners, secured her spot at NCAA Division III New England Regionals.

Suffolk and Manfra will wrap up first semester action next weekend at either the Howlin' Husky Invitational or the RIC Invitational.
