Men’s Indoor Track & Field Sweeps Inaugural GNAC Weekly Awards

WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) released its first-ever indoor track & field awards and the Suffolk indoor track & field team swept the men's categories as Matyas Csiki-Fejer was named Athlete of the Week and Cole Bolduc was tabbed Rookie of the week, the league office announced Monday.

Csiki-Fejer, a sophomore from Manchester, Missouri native, took on top competition at Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener and did not disappoint. With competitors from all Divisions, Csiki-Fejer put together a personal-best in the 3000 with a time of 8:36.53 to finish 18th in the field of 37. His time, which currently ranks sixth in DIII, secured his spot in the NCAA DIII New England Regionals.

Bolduc made the most of his indoor debut. The Blackstone, Massachusetts, product was among a hefty Rams' contingent in the mile and finished the event in 4:42.85, good for 10th out of the 46 foes. He was the top first-year finisher for GNAC runners, which included student-athletes from Emmanuel, Regis and Saint Joseph's (Maine).

With the awards, the pair each made its way into Rams' record book as the first-ever student-athletes to garner indoor track & field weekly awards.

Suffolk has one more event on its calendar in 2019, Northeastern's Howlin' Husky Invitational, this Saturday, Dec. 14.
