THE FIELD
Almost 70 schools applied to compete at the Connecticut College Invitational, but the races were capped at about 40 scores to ensure the level of competitiveness.

The women's race is loaded with No. 1 MIT and a total of 12 nationally ranked teams including Bates, Coast Guard, Connecticut College, Middlebury, MIT, NYU, St. Olaf, Tufts, Vassar, Washington & Lee and Williams.

All of the Rams' primary competitors within the region will be racing including Conference of New England members Gordon and Roger Williams.

THE DISTANCE
Suffolk's squads will be once again running the NCAA DIII standard of 6k for the women and 8k for the men. It is the fourth meet in 2024 that the Rams men will run an 8k, while the women will battle in a 6k for the third time.

COACH'S QUOTE
"This weekend will be key in our pursuit of an at large bid for the NCAA Championships in November," head coach Will Feldman said. "A win over a national ranked team this weekend combined with a top four finish at regionals should be enough to secure the program's first-ever team trip to nationals."

Feldman continued, "Saturday in many ways will be similar to pre-nationals two weeks ago."

SUFFOLK'S SCOUT

  • The line-up will be rotated to try to balance staying healthy for CNE Championships.
  • Emily Concepcion returns to the Rams' line-up this weekend.
  • Pay close attention to Sydney Fogg, who is ready for a big personal record and this course suits her strengths as a runner.
  • Bailey Ford could have a break out performance as well.

LAST TIME OUT
For the first time in Suffolk women's cross country history, the Rams competed at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships Friday at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds.
