Women’s Cross Country Wraps Up 2017 at NCAA DIII Regionals

GORHAM, Maine – The Suffolk women's cross country team concluded its 2017 slate, its first under inaugural Track & Field/Cross Country Head Coach Will Feldman, at the NCAA DIII Regionals, hosted by the University of Southern Maine Saturday morning. 

As a team, the Rams finished 47th in the field of 56, placing ahead of conference counterparts Johnson & Wales (48th) and Saint Joseph's (Maine) (53rd). 

Individually, Emma Weisse sealed her standout sophomore season with a regional personal-bests in both time, crossing the tape in 23:22.8, and place, 101st, to pace Suffolk's runners. The Hampden, Massachusetts, native, who finished 139th last season thanks to a time of 23:50.89, put together the second-best showing amongst GNAC runners, as Regis' Molly Curtin took 72nd overall with a time of 22:56.6. 

Running at her second regionals, sophomore Emily Manfra placed 195th in the field of 393 as the Stoneham, Massachusetts, local came through the finishers chute in 24:35.9. 

Michelle Kearney (335th, 27:45.0), Natalie Fay (366th, 29:51.0), Allison Espindola (376th, 31:13.9), Hannah Masch (377th, 31:29.5) and Withny King (382nd, 33:02.4) all ran at regionals for the first time in their careers.
