Women’s Cross Country Chases Division III Regional Crown Saturday


BOSTON – The NCAA Division III Women's Regional Championships are up for grabs Saturday, Nov. 11 as the Suffolk women take the course at Gorham Country Club in Gorham, Maine. The women's 5k heat is set for an 11 a.m. start. Southern Maine will own hosting responsibilities of the championship.

LAST TIME OUT
At the GNAC Championships, Emma Weisse led the way for Suffolk women's cross country as the Rams turned in a seventh-place performance on Oct. 28th at Colt State Park. 

For the second straight season, the sophomore turned in a top performance, this time finishing second overall thanks to a time of 19:20. For her efforts, the Hampden, Massachusetts, native garnered all-league honors.   

Classmate Emily Manfra was just outside the top 21, placing 21st overall thanks as the sophomore came through the finishers chute in 21:15.

A YEAR AGO
Emily Manfra and Emma Weisse were the first members Suffolk women's cross country in recent history to compete at the NCAA Division III Women New England Regional. The race took played at Stanley Park on Saturday afternoon with a field of 406 running the 6K course. Manfra capped of her freshman campaign with a 136-place finish with a time of 23:50.89, while Weisse finished three runners after her classmate in 23:56.95 for 139th.
