Sophomores Pace Women’s Cross Country at Roger Williams Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. – Emily Manfra and Emma Weiss picked up right where they left off as the sophomores finished one, two, respectively, at the Roger Williams Invitational to pace the Rams in the Suffolk women's cross country season debut Saturday morning.

Manfra was the individual winner of the two-mile race, completing the course at Colt State Park in 12:38. Identical to the results of the 2016 GNAC Championships, Weiss was right on Manfra's tail as the Stoneham, Massachusetts, local came through the finisher's chute two seconds later to finish as the invitational's runner-up.

The pair led Suffolk to a sixth-place result in the field of nine with Salve Regina earning the team win.

In her collegiate debut, Bailey Sanchez put together a 29th-place performance with a time of 13:44. Senior Michelle Kearney crossed the time in 15:11, while rookie Sara McKenna rounded out the Rams' runners with a time of 16:07.

Suffolk will take next weekend off before it ventures to North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational Saturday, Sept. 16.
