BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball takes a break from Conference of New England (CNE) competition Saturday, Sept. 28 when it travels to Fitchburg, Massachusetts for a tri-match with Bay Path and Fitchburg State. The Rams open the day at 1:00 p.m. versus the Warriors before facing the Falcons at 3:00 p.m.

McKenna Keowen set another Rams' record as the first-ever player to produce 1,000 kills in Suffolk volleyball's 3-1 triumph over southern Maine Thursday night at Hill Gym.

Suffolk volleyball landed on the wrong side of a 3-2 decision as Hartford defeated the Rams in five sets in the first Conference of New England (CNE) contest of the season Wednesday night at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk (12-3, 0-1 CNE) saw its six-match win streak snapped Wednesday as it dropped a five-set heartbreaker to Hartford.  

McKenna Keowen is an offensive force with 3.16 kills per set (kps) and 0.63 aces per set, both are team-high numbers. Sami Shore is second on the squad attack wise with 2.27 kps and is a threat at the net with 0.82 blocks per set (bps).  The blue-and-gold's attack is set up by Jayla Martinez and Aislinn Lanigan who hand out 6.14 assists per set and 3.63 assists per set, respectively. Morgan Kelsey anchors the backline with 4.08 digs per set (dps).

WILDCAT WAYS
Bay Path had its own win streak end last Saturday as it was swept by Westfield State to dip to 5-2 on the year.  

Like Suffolk, Bay Path has an offensive leader in both kills (3.71) and aces (1.08) per set in Anastasiya Tsetsko. Lilly Kibbe is second on the squad in both categories as well with 2.17 kps and 0.83 aces per set. Zormar Betancourt (4.55 assists per set) and Michelle Santaigo (3.25 assists per set) share the Wildcats' setter role.  

Defensively, Shanayah St Phard paces the pack with 3.29 (dps), while Mckenzie Labier provides 0.65 bps.

FALCONS FACTS
Fitchburg State has been unable to find the win column this season as it sits 0-7 on the year. Five of its seven matches have been decided in straight sets. 

Stephanie Sardella's 2.17 kps and 0.48 aces per set lead the offense that receives 1.52 kps from Samantha Mirra, who also tops the defensive unit with 3.04 dps. Mia Vestal (3.43 assists) and Madison Keohane (2.30 assists) set-up the attack. Jessica Greco pitches in 2.74 dps and Gabrielle Griffiths provides 0.96 bps at the net. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

• The Suffolk, Fitchburg State series is fairly new, starting in 2021. 
• The Rams are unbeaten, 3-0, all-time against the Falcons. 
• Two matches between Suffolk and Fitchburg State have taken place in Boston, 2-0. 
• The Rams battled at Fitchburg State for the first time a year ago and swept the Falcons, Sept. 12, 2023. 
• The teams needed four sets in the first-ever meeting, Oct. 21, 2021. 
• Since then, Suffolk has taken down the Falcons in straight sets.
