BOSTON – The Suffolk women's soccer team returns to the friendly confines of James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park Wednesday, Sept. 20 for a midweek GNAC contest versus Simmons. Game time is set for under the lights at 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Caleigh O'Brien forced overtime with the tying goal with 41 seconds left on the clock in regulation and the freshman lifted the Suffolk women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Regis with the game-winner just 37 seconds into the overtime at Regis Stadium Saturday afternoon.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Thanks to Caleigh O'Brien's heroic efforts, Suffolk returned to the win column and leveled its overall (2-2-0) and league ledger (1-1-0) to .500. 

O'Brien is the lone Ram with multiple goals this season as the freshman put a pair away in the 3-2 overtime win at Regis, the tying-ball and the game-winner. Erika Nelson, Alexandra Nagri and Paola Ortez have each found of the back of the net with Nelson sitting second on the squad with three points thanks to one handout. Veronica Bernardo and Jennifer Martin have also recorded points for the blue-and-gold with one assist to their credits. 

In net Julia Fieldsend and Kirsten Weiker have split wins for Suffolk. Fieldsend boasts a team-best 3.14 goals-against average and a .765 save percentage, while Weiker, who has seen the most action between the pipes, comes into Wednesday's contest with a 3.29 goals against average and a .710 save percentage.

SHARKS SAYINGS
Since blanking Newbury, 9-0, Sept. 2, Simmons has been winless through its last four outings, including a 1-1 double overtime time at Emmanuel Saturday to bring a 1-3-2 overall mark and a 0-2-1 record against conference competition into Wednesday night. 

Ciara Forde and Kashka Gammon own six points apiece. Forde's are off three markers, while Gamon's are thanks a pair of goals and two handouts. Liz Donovan also boasts multiple goals with two on the senior back's statline. 

Casey Halle has held down the net for the Sharks. The senior keeper boasts a 1.85 goals against average and a .780 save percentage, starting all six contests for Simmons.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • The Suffolk, Simmons series dates back to the Rams' first season, 2007, with the blue-and-gold trailing the Sharks, 3-6-1.
  • Simmons has picked up the last three meetings in shutout fashion, including a 4-0 victory over the Rams last season.
  • Suffolk looks for its first win over Simmons since 1-0 shutout triumph Nov. 5, 2013 and in the Darren Lloyd era.
  • Overall, seven of the 10 meetings have been decided in shutout fashion. In such contests, Suffolk trails, 2-5
  • The Rams and Sharks have needed extra time to decide a winner on two occasions. Suffolk is 1-0-1 in overtime versus Simmons. The last time the teams went over 90 minutes in 2012 at Simmons where the blue-and-gold won, 1-0. In 2011, the teams' went into double overtime and it ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

ROOKIE RECOGNITION
Caleigh O'Brien of the Suffolk women's soccer team picked up GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week honors after leading the Rams to a 3-2 come-from-behind, overtime victory at Regis Saturday.
