WESTON, Mass. – Caleigh O'Brien forced overtime with the tying goal with 41 seconds left on the clock in regulation and the freshman lifted the Suffolk women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Regis with the game-winner just 37 seconds into the overtime at Regis Stadium Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk climbed its way out of two-goal deficit as Regis took a 1-0 lead into the locker room and extended its edge with 27 minutes remaining in regulation with three late unanswered markers including back-to-back tallies by O'Brien to secure the conference victory. 

GOALS

• The Pride's Emily Lange opened the scoring on the day with her first collegiate goal at the 1:20 mark. Freshman Emma Mendes found Lange in the box from the right-hand side, who fired one past Kirsten Weiker off a ground cross to give the Pride a 1-0 lead.
• The score was still 1-0 in the 73rd minute when Lange tallied her second goal of the game to give the Pride a 2-0 cushion. Off a Jenna Novio corner kick, Lange scooped up a loose ball and fired it into the open cage.
• The Rams refused to go down without a fight, scoring their first goal of the contest on a good penalty kick by senior Erika Nelson in the 81st minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.
• O'Brien would get her head to a corner kick just eight minutes later to even the score with 41 seconds left on the clock. Senior Jennifer Martin hit a perfect curling corner low into the box and O'Brien rose above two Pride defenders to redirect it over the outstretched arms of Regis keeper Kyrsten Drake to send the game to overtime.
• O'Brien wasted no time scoring the game-winner once the extra session started. Veronica Bernardo played a ball up the middle of the field through the Pride defense which O'Brien got to first, tapping the ball past an on-charging Drake and into the cage to secure the win for Suffolk. 

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

• Julia Fieldsend made six saves in 70 minutes in relief of Weiker, who went down with an injury in the 21st minute. Prior to the injury, Weiker turned aside one shot.
• In the setback, Drake made two saves.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

• O'Brien had two goals to pace Suffolk's offense with Nelson also finding the back of the net for the blue-and-gold.
• Bernardo and Martin each recorded one assist in the outing.
• Lange was responsible for both of Regis' strikes with Mendes and Novio each dishing out one assist.
• The Pride held advantages in shots, 22-9, shots on goal, 9-5, and corners, 4-3. 

NOTEABLES

• Suffolk moved to 2-1 all-time versus Regis.
• The Rams played in overtime for the first time in 2017.
• Suffolk and Regis went into overtime against one another for the first time in the all-time series between the two teams.
• The Rams played in their third overtime outing under Darren Lloyd and won its first OT game with Lloyd on the bench, moving to 1-2-0 when needing extra time under the three-year head coach.
• Overall, Suffolk is 2-8-6 in overtime in the program's history. Suffolk won its first overtime game since taking down Mount Ida, 2-1, in OT Oct. 6, 2012.
• O'Brien recorded the first points and goal of her collegiate career.
• O'Brien's two-goal effort marks the first-time a Ram produced a multi-goal game since Alexandra Nagri and Martin each potted a pair of goals in a 6-2 win over Mass. Maritime Oct. 25, 2016.
