BOSTON – Suffolk women's hockey looks to ride momentum from its first victory of the year into a Conference of New England (CNE) home-and-home series with Johnson & Wales this weekend. The Rams will host the Wildcats at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink Friday, Nov. 15 at 6:00 p.m., before visiting JWU Saturday, Nov. 16 at Lync Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, for a 5:15 p.m. puck drop.

LAST TIME OUT
Sam Molind netted the game-winning goal with 19 seconds left in overtime to send Suffolk women's hockey past Endicott, 3-2, Saturday night at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating RinkShayna Deutsch had her first collegiate goal in the win and Kate Pohl potted her first goal in a Rams' sweater in the triumph as well.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk entered the win column in overtime fashion as it bested Endicott, 3-2, Saturday night to move to 1-3-0 on the year and 1-1-0 in CNE contests.  

Alexia Hill is the only Ram with multiple goals on her stat line as the freshman has found the back of the net twice. She is one of three players with three points as Maddie Gagliano has one goal and two assists and Liliana Moosehas a team-best three handouts.        

Katelyn Michals has played every minute in net for the blue-and-gold. The goaltender holds a 3.24 GAA and .902 save percentage in four outings. 

WILDCAT WAYS
After falling to Salve Regina in its season debut, 2-1, Johnson & Wales swept the University of New England in a CNE home-and-home series last weekend to hold a 2-1-0 overall mark and 2-0-0 league ledger. The victories over the Nor'Easters came by scores 2-1 and 1-0.

The Wildcats' four-goal offense is paced by Zoe Tow's team-best three points behind two goals, also a team-best, and one assist. Marissa Lafferty is second on the squad in points with a pair with one goal and one mark. Reese Middendorf rounds out the goals scorers with one strike. 

JWU has used a different netminder in every game in Katelyn Cardoso (1-0-0, 1.00 save %, 0.00 GAA), Sofia Tamayo (1-0-0, .957 save%, 1.00 GAA) and Leah White (0-1-0, .935 save %, 2.02 GAA). 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Johnson & Wales will renew the rivalry with one another this weekend, meeting for the first time since Feb. 22, 2020. 
  • The Rams have coupled back-to-back wins against JWU to move to 4-1-0 all-time against the Wildcats. 
  • The blue-and-gold is unbeaten at home versus JWU, 2-0.
