BOSTON – Suffolk women's hockey begins a five-game home stretch this weekend when it hosts No. 3 Norwich and Salem State. The Rams will first entertain the Cadets Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:45 p.m., before the Vikings visit Louis E. Porazzo Memorial Rink the next day, Saturday, Dec. 7 for a 5:30 p.m. showdown.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's hockey fell in a three-goal hole it never climbed out of as it completed the home-and-home series with Wesleyan on the wrong side of a 3-1 decision Sunday night at Spurrier-Snyder Rink.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk looks to snap a four-game skid that put the Rams at 2-7-2 on the year and 2-2-1 in NEHC play.  

Maddy Burton and Shana Cote provide a one-two punch offensively with the junior and sophomore with eight points apiece. Burton has scored twice and has handed out a team-high six assists. Cote, meanwhile, has a split stat line between goals (4) and helpers (4). Haley Poloskey has netted four goals as well to go with one set-up.

Julia McLellan and Kristen Caporusso have split time in net. McLellan brings in a 3.21 GAA and .892 save percentage into the weekend, while Caporusso holds a 2.81 GAA and .886 save percentage. 

CADETS CATCHUP
Norwich, who came in at No. 3 in the latest USCHO.com Coaches' Poll, extended its win streak to eight with a 5-0 shutout over Castleton Wednesday night to move to 8-1-0 overall and 5-0-0 in NEHC action.   

The Cadets, who have not been scored on in the last four games, have five shutouts through eight regular-season tilts and have outscored their opponents, 50-7. Norwich's three goaltenders are primarily responsible for the success as the trio has combined for 340 saves and a 0.78 GAA. Alexa Berg has seen the most time, with four starts, and holds a 1.25 GAA and .944 save percentage. Emily Lambert brings in a 0.50 GAA and .977 save percentage, while Kate Winstanley rounds out the threesome with a 0.33 GAA and .971 save percentage. 

Offensively, four different skaters have hit the double-digit point mark led by Amanda Conway's 15-point effort with a team-high eight goals and seven assists. Samantha Benoit (2g, 9a) and Ann-Frederique Guay (6g, 5a) share second on the squad with 11 points each and Sophie McGovern (4g, 6a) rounds out the top threats with 10 points.

  • Suffolk trails the all-time series with Norwich, 0-2-0. 
  • The Rams are still in the hunt for their first goal against the Cadets in the all-time series.

VIKINGS VIEW
Since tying Suffolk November 15, Salem State went 1-3-0 to sit 2-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 against conference competitors. Prior to facing the Rams Saturday night, the Vikings will entertain non-league foe Trinity Friday, Dec. 6.  

Kylie Currier boasts five points behind a team-best three goals and two helpers. Rose Sullivan sits second on the squad with four points with a pair of markers and helpers, respectively. 

Sarah Plourde is SSU's go-to starter in between the pipes. She holds a 4.70 GAA and .877 save percentage. Dana Smullen has seen time in net as well. She holds a 4.74 GAA and .842 save percentage.

Suffolk women's hockey played to a 1-1 stalemate against Salem State in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action November 15 at Rockett Arena.

Suffolk women's hockey's Julia McLellan received NEHC Rookie of the Week honors from the league after a 67-save, .905 save percentage effort in between the pipes despite two losses last week.
