HOW IT HAPPENED
Salem State successfully killed a two-minute minor for interference at the 11:03 minute mark and quickly went on the attack as Alexis Thomas scored 34 seconds into the even ice to give the hosts a one-goal margin, a distance that stood at the first intermission.

Quickly out of the locker room the Rams responded as Haley Poloskey leveled the playing field with help by Izzy Hendry and Jesse Kennedy 1:31 into the second stanza.

Julia McLellan kept the one-all conference clash intact for the blue-and-gold as the freshman goalie scooped up all 15 of the Vikings attempts on target over the remainder of the middle period. Sarah Plourde, meanwhile, was just as outstanding for Salem State with an eight-save effort over the final 18:29 to set up an interesting third.

Suffolk turned up the volume in the third period, nearly doubling the Vikings attempts on target, 14-6. Plourde prevailed for the hosts, however, stopping each of the Rams 14 shots over the final 20 minutes of regulation to force the extra period.

Salem State took control of the overtime, taking all six shots. McLellan made stop-after-stop and the Rams held on to pick up one league point.
