BOSTON – The Suffolk softball team will be back in action for the first time in 10 days in will return in style as the Rams entertain Emmanuel at Clemente Field under the lights with a 6 p.m. start in their Coaches vs. Cancer game and GNAC opener. After the eventful Saturday, Suffolk will visit Lasell for a doubleheader set for 12 p.m.

COACHES VS. CANCER
Suffolk  and Emmanuel softball teams along with their head coaches, Jaclyn Davis and Rob Spofford, will team up with the American Cancer Society and participate in the Coaches vs. Cancer initiate Saturday night.

LAST TIME OUT
In its first home action of the 2016 season, and the first official Suffolk softball game at East Boston Memorial Park, the Rams posted a pair of wins over Emerson, downing the Lions 2-1 in Game 1 and 11-4 in Game 2 March 30.

RUN DOWN ON THE RAMS
Jill Pulek and Delaney Sylvester lead all players with 17 hits. Pulek has been a power source, leading the team in RBI (11), runs (12), homers (2), slugging percentage (.711) and is tied for the team lead in doubles (four). Evelyn Marquis has a team-best .520 batting average and .567 on-base percentage. 

Taylor Holmes is leading a strong group of pitchers for Suffolk, leading the team with a 2.05 earned-run average. Ali Yamakaitis, meanwhile, boasts team-best numbers in strikeouts (20) and innings pitching (35.2).

ROOKIE RECOGNITION
Every week Suffolk has been in action this season a rookie has been recognized with back-to-back GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week accolades. Jill Pulek earned the distinction March 14, while Evelyn Marquis garnered the honor March 21.

SOMETHING 'BOUT THE SAINTS
Emmanuel (9-8, 1-1 GNAC) has split its last two doubleheaders including a split at Rivier to open GNAC play. The Saint took Game 1, 5-3, before being run-ruled by the Raiders, 11-3, in five innings April 6.

Catherine Davis' bat paces the Saints with the senior contributing team highs in hits (17), doubles (5), RIB (12) and runs (14). Ashley Skey is the most consistent hitter for Emmanuel with the freshman putting together a .378 average on 17 hits, 10 RBI and scoring three runs herself. Skey also paces the squad in on-base percentage (.509) and slugging percentage (.578).

Emmanuel has used a two-headed pitching contingent in the circle this season. Megan Kieselback is 2-1 with a team-high 19 Ks and 3.64 ERA. Olivia Burgos rounds out the Saints' twirlers with the freshman pitching 4.2 innings this season and striking out two.

LOOK AT THE LASERS
Lasell has not played since returning from its Florida trip where the Lasers went 3-7. Prior to Sunday's twin bill versus the Rams, the Lasers will visit Albertus Magnus to open their GNAC ledger.

Emily DeAngelis has been the force at the plate for Lasell as the senior outfielder provides team highs in hits (15), triples (2), RBI (10), batting average (.469), on-base percentage (.500) and slugging percentage (.625). Nicole LeBlanc has crossed home the most with seven runs to go along with a .314 batting average.

Eileen Bergin and Krystel Enko have each started five games in the circle for the Lasers. Enko boasts the better record (2-4) with the junior fanning seven batters in 20.2 innings for a 3.73 ERA. Bergin, meanwhile, has a 7.00 ERA in 26 innings of action and 10 strikeouts. 

COMING UP
A busy week is ahead for Suffolk, who plays at Norwich Tuesday, April 12, before welcoming Johnson State to East Boston Memorial Park Wednesday, April 13.
