Men’s Tennis Closes Homestand Saturday vs. Emerson

BOSTON – The Suffolk men's tennis team wraps up a season-opening, four-match homestand Saturday, March 31 as the Rams entertain Emerson at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols at 12 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Suffolk men's tennis team could not hold off a single surge by UMass Boston as the Beacons won five of the six singles courts to take down the Rams, 6-3, Thursday at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk slipped to 1-2 on the season with its setback to UMass Boston, which came one day after the Rams secured its first victory of the season, a 5-4 triumph over Curry. 

Ariel Ilarslan Russo is unbeaten as Suffolk's ace in a pair of matches to hold down the singles lineup. Omar Azzaoui sports a 2-1 record on courts one (1-0) and two (1-1), respectively, while Mike DeFelice (No. 3; 1-1) and Cameron Roach (No. 2; 0-1 / No. 4; 1-0) also have tallied victories in singles action this season. 

In doubles, the tandem of Rami Esrawi and Kevin Greenman sit at 2-0 exclusively in the third slot, while the partnerships of Assaoui and Chris Parnagian and Esrawi and Charles Tang are both 1-0 on courts two and three, respectively.

LIONS LOOK
Emerson takes a five-match skid into Saturday's showdown with its latest setback, a 7-2 decision to UMass Boston, putting the Lions at 1-7 on the year. 

Daniel Okin has been a constant on the top court in both singles and doubles action for Emerson. The junior has maintained the ace position in singles action and has put together a 5-3 ledger. In doubles, meanwhile, Okin has teamed up with both Antion Ramirez and Brock Highey. The Okin/Ramirez team holds a 2-1 mark, while the Okin/Highey partnership is 2-3. 

UP NEXT
Suffolk will head out on the road for the first time this season when it stops by Lesley Tuesday, April 3. The non-conference contest opens a three-match road swing for the Rams.
