Four from Men’s Soccer Earn CSC Academic All-District

COLLEGE SPORTS COMMUNICATORS RELEASE | CSC ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT 2024

BOSTON – Suffolk men's soccer saw four student-athletes pick up College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors in seniors Taj Jensen and TJ Maselek, junior Matthew Belluardo and sophomore Ricardo Feliciani

Presented by College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the most accomplished student-athletes for combined academic and athletic achievements each year since 1952, this is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athletic award for student-athletes to receive.

All nominees must have a GPA of at least a 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale), be a starter or important reserve, and have competed in at least 90 percent of a team's competition.

With the addition of this year's four honorees, Suffolk's men's soccer now has 17 Academic All-District nods in its record books, all of which have come in the last five years under Bill Maddock's guidance.

The Rams were joined by every Conference of New England (CNE) institution – Curry (2), Endicott (5), Western New England (2), Roger Williams (5), Hartford (2), Gordon (4), University of New England (2), Wentworth (2), and Nichols (1) -- on the list that featured 924 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer student-athletes.

The academic accolades come on the heels of a season in which Suffolk wore the CNE crown for the first time and made the program's second-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.

A business and economics major, Jensen holds a 3.818 GPA. The midfielder, who calls Providence, Rhode Island home, was a staple in Suffolk's line-up throughout the season. The All-CNE second-teamer supplied one goal and two assists to the Rams' 36-goal offense. His lone strike was the game-winner in the regular-season 1-0 shutout of Western New England, Oct. 16.

Belluardo, an undergraduate law student-athlete boasts a 3.967 GPA, and garnered his first All-CNE selection this season with a spot on the second team. He chipped in two handouts from the backline, both of which came in crucial conference contests.

Feliciani, was also a usual on the backline, boasts a 3.694 GPA as a, marketing major. The third-team All-CNE honoree started all, but two games and helped limit the blue-and-gold's competition to 29 goals.

Maselek rounds out the group with a 3.857 GPA as an entrepreneurship concentrator. Offensively the defensive midfielder added two markers including the game-winner in the 4-3 triumph at Curry Oct. 19.

Jensen collected his third straight honor, the first and only member of Suffolk's men's soccer program to have collected three Academic All-District organizations. He is the second-ever Ram to receive the nod three times, first since Matyas Csiki-Fejer picked up three from 2019-20. The senior captain has moved onto the Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted on by CSC members this week. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Belluardo also joins an elite group of Suffolk student-athletes with his second distinction in as many years, while Feliacini and Maselek are first-time recipients.
