BOSTON – After taking midweek action off, Suffolk men's soccer sets its sights to Saturday's (Sept. 16) showdown with Mount Ida at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Christian Restrepo's late goal put the Suffolk men's soccer team within one, but the Falcons of Albertus Magnus held off the Rams' comeback to hold onto a 2-1 GNAC win at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park Saturday afternoon.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk carries a 2-2-0 overall record and 0-1-0 league ledger into Saturday's contest. 

Five Rams have combined for 10 goals this season with Christian Restrepo responsible for half of the blue-and-gold's markers. The sophomore set up another tally to record 11 points through four contests this season, which leads the conference. Felipe Ucros is the only other Suffolk player to record multiple goals, contributing a pair. James Fisher is third on the team with three points on one goal and one handout, while Jordan Casey's two assist leads the squad. 

In net, Kyle Van Cleef has started every contest for Suffolk and holds a 2.17 goals against average and a .742 save percentage. Jon Brodeur has also defended between the goals posts for the Rams with the sophomore turning aside all three attempts sent his way.

MUSTANGS MENTIONABLES
Mt. Ida rides a two-game win streak into Saturday's showdown. The Mustangs have blanked their last two opponents, shutting out Wheelock, 5-0, and Becker, 3-0, to sit at 3-2 on the season. 

Juan Brenes leads the Mustangs offense as the junior forward has put away four of Mt. Ida's 11 markers. Ethan Sweet is second on the squad with four points on two goals with Adam Beaty and Nolan Reimondo each owning three points on one tally and one handout apiece. 

Riley Forward is Mt. Ida's go-to keeper. The senior brings in a 1.87 goals-against average and a .679 save percentage.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Since 2003, Suffolk leads the series with Mount Ida, 8-3-2.
  • Seven contest have been decided by one-goal or less, with the Rams holding a 3-4-2 record in such outings.
  • The Rams shutout the Mustangs, 4-0, in the team's last meeting, Oct. 5, 2016. The victory marks the largest margin of defeat for Suffolk over Mt. Ida.
  • Throughout the series, there have been three cleansheets with the blue-and-gold holding a 2-1-0 mark in such games.
  • Overall, five contests have needed extra time to decide a winner with four going into double overtime. Suffolk is 2-1-2 when taking Mt. Ida into overtime.

Awards continue to roll in for Suffolk men's soccer's Christian Restrepo as the sophomore has been recognized as United Soccer Coaches (USC) Player of the Week, the national organization announced Sept. 12.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Christian Restrepo of the Suffolk men's soccer team has been tabbed GNAC Corvias Player of the Week as the sophomore notched eight points on four goals in a 1-1 week for the Rams.

STREAKING
Through four contests this season, sophomore Christian Restrepo has produced at least one point in the all of them. The forward from Everett, Massachusetts, opened 2017 with an assist versus Mass. Maritime and has since gone on to record at least one goal in the next three contests to stretch his point streak to four. The stretch marks the longest point streak for a Rams since Alberto Benhamu put together a four-game point streak from Sept. 28-Oct. 9 in 2013. Benhamu's streak featured one goal and three handouts. 

HATS OFF
Christian Restrepo knocked in three goals against Emerson Sept. 6, becoming the first Ram to register a hat trick since Alberto Bittan did so against Regis Sept. 17, 2016. The three-goal performance is the first of the sophomore's career.

Suffolk heads out on the road for a midweek match at Johnson & Wales as the Rams make the trek to Providence, Rhode Island, Wednesday, Sept. 20. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
