Restrepo Picks Up GNAC Corvias Player of the Week

BOSTON – Christian Restrepo of the Suffolk men's soccer team has been tabbed GNAC Corvias Player of the Week as the sophomore notched eight points on four goals in a 1-1 week for the Rams, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

To open the week, Restrepo helped Suffolk break open a 1-all time at Emerson and put away the go-ahead go before completing a natural hat trick in the 5-2 win. The three-goal performance is a first for the Everett, Massachusetts, native, and marks the first since Alberto Bittan netted three markers against Sept. 16, 2016.

Three days later in the GNAC opener against Albertus Magnus, Restrepo put Suffolk on the board with just over five minutes to play, cutting the Falcons edge to one goal. The Rams could not complete the comeback, however, and ultimately fell, 2-1.

Restrepo has tallied at least one point in each of Suffolk's four games this season, marking the longest point streak for a Ram since Alberto Benhamu, who put a four-game point streak together from Sept. 28-Oct. 9, 2013. Restrepo's streak features five goals and one handout.

Overall, Restrepo paces not only Suffolk, but the league in points (11) and goals (5).

The weekly award marks a first for the Rams this season and of Restrepo's career.

Restrepo and Suffolk take a break from midweek action as they turn their attention to Saturday's (Sept. 16) showdown against Mount Ida. The Rams welcome the Mustangs to James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park for a 1 p.m. tilt.
