Men’s Golf Starts 2024-25 Season at Gillette Ridge Invitational

BOSTON – Suffolk men's golf gets its 2024-25 campaign underway this weekend at the Gillette Ridge Invitational hosted by Hartford at the Gillette Ridge Golf Club in Bloomfield, Connecticut this weekend, Sept. 21-22.

RAMS RETURNERS
Seventy percent of Suffolk's 10-man roster returns in seniors Jonathan DonovanTyler RyanVijay Sakuru and Jake Zirlin, juniors Trey Connolly and Christopher Sinopoli and sophomore Ryan Mollica. 

RAMS ROOKIES
Suffolk men's golf has brought in three new players to boost its roster in 2024-25 first-year head coach Joshua Brickely announced. 

Junior Tyler Anastasi and freshmen Michael Gallagher and Mikey Kowalsky join the Rams. Anastasi previously played for the blue-and-gold's men's hockey team for the previous two seasons, while Gallagher and Kowalsky are making their true collegiate sports debut.

RAMS RINGLEADERS
Suffolk men's golf's seniors Vijay Sakuru and Jake Zirlin will share the leadership role as co-captains of the 2024-25 Rams' squad

GEOGRAPHY 101
Suffolk's geographical make-up is comprised of five Bay State natives and one local from Connecticut, Maine, Michigan and Illinois. There is one international Ram on roster as well, Vijay Sakuru, who brought his talents to Beantown from India. 

CLASS CATEGORIES
The four-member senior class is the largest on Suffolk's squad with three juniors, one sophomore and two true freshmen.  

COACH'S CORNER
Suffolk men's golf will be under new leadership in 2024-25 as Joshua Brickley will take over the program as head coach.  

Brickley brings a decade of golf professional experience to the Rams squad, his first collegiate head coaching role.  

TEEING OFF
Suffolk returns to its traditional tournament action for its season opener for the first time since pulling the curtain back on its 2022-23 campaign.  

THE COURSE
Gillette Ridge was named to honor Francis Gillette, a local 19th century reformer, politician and business leader, whose house still stands on the site.

Legendary golfer and world renowned architect Arnold Palmer crafted Gillette Ridge to capitalize on the site's natural beauty. Streams, lakes, elevation changes, and mature trees are all part of this tremendous golf experience. 

Gillette Ridge hosted the LPGA Futures Tour Cigna Golf Classic from 2005-2008 and the PGA Tour Travelers Championship Qualifier from 2010-2012

THE FIELD
Nine teams will converge in Bloomfield, Connecticut. The Rams will be joined by Conference of New England (CNE) counterparts Gordon, Wentworth, Roger Williams and the host Hartford.  State University of NY at Delhi, American International College, Western Connecticut State, New Haven and Salem State will also be on the course.
