
BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – Suffolk men's golf wrapped up its first action of 2024-25 Sunday and took third at the Gillette Ridge Invitational over the weekend at the Gillette Ridge Golf Club.
The Rams, who were in second after 18 holes on Saturday with a 309, dipped down one position to third after the second round of 312 to put together a two-day card of 621 (+45). Suffolk finished behind its Conference of New England (CNE) foes Roger Williams and Hartford. RWU won the event with a 604 (+28) and the host Hawks slid into second with a 615 (+39).
Jake Zirlin had a standout Sunday with a field-best 71 (-1). When combined with his Saturday score of 76 the senior captain shared second in the field of 57, eight spots up from where he Saturday after the first day of play.
Vijay Sakuru and Michael Gallagher shared 14th with a 157 (+13) each.
Christopher Sinopoli tied for 20th. He shot an 80 on both days of play to finish with a 160 (+16).
Ryan Mollica rounded out the Rams in 32nd with a 167 (+23).
Suffolk returns to action this weekend, Sept. 27-28, at the Bowdoin Invitational at the Brunswick Golf Club.
