BOSTON – Suffolk men's golf's seniors Vijay Sakuru and Jake Zirlin will share the leadership role as co-captains of the 2024-25 Rams' squad, first-year head coach Joshua Brickley announced.
It is the first known time in the Rams' year-by-year record books, which dates through the 2008-09 campaign, that Suffolk's team will have multiple captains. Both Sakuru and Zirlin earned the title for the first time in their collegiate careers.
The pair have been key contributors to Suffolk's success over the last three years including back-to-back fourth-place performances at the conference championships and two straight top-10 finishes at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships, a first in program history.
Individually, Sakuru is a two-time all-conference performer, while Zirlin has been a staple in Suffolk's top-five as well.
The two will help lead the Rams into a new era that gets underway at the Gillette Ridge Invitational Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Gillette Ridge Golf Club in Bloomfield, Connecticut.
