
BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball capped off its first home tri-match of the season with a straight-set win over its Beantown rival UMass Boston. The Rams defeated the Beacons 25-18, 25-18 and 25-20.

- UMass Boston jumped out to a 6-1 lead.
- Suffolk pulled back and leveled the playing field thanks to a 7-2 stretch.

- That advantage stayed at the mid-way point, 16-8.
- Things evened out the rest of the way and the early cushion paid off for Suffolk, 25-18.

- Suffolk quickly made it a double-digit distance, 18-7.
- A timeout from the Beacons helped the visitors as they rattled off four points in a row out of the huddle to trim the gap down to six, 18-12.
- See-saw action ensued and Suffolk clung to the edge, 23-15.
- Another 4-0 run by UMass Boston cut Suffolk's lead to four, 23-19.
- Suffolk used a timeout, but it didn't stop the Beacons as they scored out of the huddle to make it a three-point frame, 23-20.
- A kill from Alina Nowakowski followed by a service ace from Harmony Johnson was the deciding factor in the set and frame for Suffolk.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Jess Weber led the charge for the second time in as many outings. The sophomore contributed 12 kills with eight digs and one block.
- Grace Cervenka produced seven kills, two digs, one block, one assist and one ace.
- Jasmine James added six kills and one block.
- Nowakowski finished with six kills and three blocks.
- Johnson and Jayla Martinez set up Suffolk's 37-kill attack with 16 assists and 12 assists, respectively.
- Kenzley Bell anchored the defense with 12 digs.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk coupled back-to-back wins together over UMass Boston for the first time in program history.
- The Rams defeated the Beacons at home. Suffolk is now 3-1 all-time when hosting UMB.
- The match marked the ninth straight set decision between the Rams and Beacons. Suffolk moves to 3-6 in sweeps against UMB.
- Suffolk is unbeaten, 2-0, against UMass Boston under Scott Blanchard's guidance.
