Cervenka Claims CCC Rookie of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Grace Cervenka of the Suffolk volleyball team garnered CCC Rookie of the Week after helping the Rams to a 4-0 showing over Sept. 12-18, the league office announced Monday. Cervenka was a key contributor with 2.23 kills per set on a .460 swinging clip to go along with and 0.77 blocks per set.

The Sugar Land, Texas native, opened the week with seven kills in a 3-0 sweep of Lesley. Two days later, the middle blocker turned in her best performance of the week with 12 kills, six digs and a career-best seven blocks in a five-set thrilling victory over Fisher. In Gorham, Maine over the weekend, she chipped in four kills to a straight set triumph of Castleton, before she contributed six kills to the program's first-ever win over Southern Maine, a sweep of the Huskies.

Cervenka is the third student-athlete to collect a weekly award from the CCC this season, joining McKenna Keowen and Jess Weber, who were named the best player and rookie over a seven-day stretch, respectively, Sept. 6.

Suffolk returns to action tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 20 when it lifts the lid on its CCC campaign at Gordon at 7 p.m.
