Volleyball Pair Picks Up All-GNAC Third-Team

WINTHROP, Mass. – Following a historic season, Suffolk volleyball saw a two student-athletes recognized for their athleticism as Hannah Fabiano and Harmony Johnson garnered All-GNAC Third-Team honors, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

The twosome is not only the most all-league honorees under second-year head coach Scott Blanchard, but the most for the blue-and-gold since Kristen Conrad and Heather Cox each earned spots on the third-team in 2006. Fabiano and Johnson are the third-ever Rams duo to earn conference nods in the same season in program history.

Suffolk's second was one for the record books with the most wins in program history with a 20-12 overall record. The Rams erased the previous record of 18 victories held by the 1997 squad with a five-setting thrilling regular-season finale decision over Saint Joseph's Maine November 2. Two days later, the blue-and gold made history again with its first-ever home playoff win when the fourth-seeded Rams downed swept fifth-seeded Colby Sawyer.

Fabiano and Johnson were critical ingredients to Suffolk's success as the former led the attack, which the latter set up.

Fabiano, a junior from Litchfield, New Hampshire, produced 2.89 kps and 2.01 dps to go along with 0.40 aces per set. The captain hit the double-double mark seven times on the season.

Johnson, meanwhile, made the most of her collegiate debut. A freshman who ventured cross country for her college career assembled a 10.41 kps offense with 8.20 aps. She chipped in 2.11 dps to the defensive unit that swept five opponents and provided 0.44 aces from the service line. The Riverside, California local recorded tallied four double-doubles and is the first freshman to receive an all-conference nod since Fabiano did so in 2016.

Sarah Mullahy was the blue-and-gold's representative on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team, which was established to honor one player from each team in the conference for outstanding dedication to sportsmanship and for their portrayal of good sportsmanship, fair play and a positive attitude.

Since joining the GNAC in 1996, Suffolk has garnered 20 all-conference accolades including four first-team selections, four second-team nods and 12 third-team honors.
