Johnson Notches Fourth GNAC Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Suffolk volleyball's Harmony Johnson collected her fourth GNAC Rookie of the Week Monday afternoon after averaging 10.89 assists, 1.22 digs and 1.33 service aces per set in a 2-1 week for the Rams.  

Johnson, who previously set the record for the most times a Ram was named the best rookie over a seven day stretch by the league with her third honor Oct. 8, has been a crucial ingredient to one of Suffolk's most successful seasons in program history.  

The Riverside, California local opened the week with a personal-best 49 handouts in a four-set victory over Regis. She chipped in six digs, four kills, four aces and one block to the win that leveled the all-time series with the Pride at eight triumphs apiece.  

To open the league tri-match in West Hartford, Connecticut, Saturday, Johnson put together a 31-assist, five-ace, three-kill, two-dig and one-block effort in sweep over the hosts Saint Joseph (Conn.). She recorded 18 assists, three aces, three digs, two kills and one block versus Rivier to wrap up the day.  

The rookie has put together an 8.15 aps effort over 26 matches played, good for fourth in the conference. She has pitched in 2.01 dps and 0.44 aces per set to help Suffolk tie the program-record of wins at 18-9 overall.  

Johnson and the Rams are back on the hardwood tomorrow when they conclude the regular-season road calendar at Rhode Island College. First serve in the blue-and-gold's non-conference finale is scheduled for 7 p.m.
