BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball saw its three-match win streak come to an end Tuesday night as the Rams were swept by Gordon at the Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The non-conference setback came by set scores, 25-19, 25-20 and 25-23.
THE BASICS

SET ONE RECAP (25-19, GORDON)
- Gordon grabbed an 8-1 lead, which forced Scott Blanchard to call his team over.
- The Rams rattled off three straight points out of the huddle to slice the margin in half, 8-4.
- The Fighting Scots charged forward on a 7-0 stretch from there to build a double-digit distance, 15-5.
- Blanchard's second timeout of the set did not stymie Gordon, who continued to make more distance out of the break, going up by as many as 13, 22-9.
- A late Rams run came, as the hosts strung together a 10-2 stretch to pull within five, 24-19.
- Suffolk's comeback came up short as an attack by Hannah Fabiano skimmed the net and fell back on the Rams in the Fighting Scots' favor.
SET TWO RECAP (25-20, GORDON)
- Suffolk found itself in a 9-2 hole early on.
- The Rams chipped away at the deficit behind a 6-2 stretch to make it a three-point frame, 11-8.
- Gordon had other things in mind, however, as it surged ahead by nearly double figures, 18-9, thanks to some finesse at the service line.
- Blanchard's abrupt timeout sparked Suffolk as it rolled out of the break with a 5-1 run to cut the margin to five, 19-14.
- The Fighting Scots' five-point cushion remained a Rams' 4-1 rally trimmed things to four, 24-20.
- Gordon already had match point in its favor though and it sealed the set on a kill.
SET THREE RECAP (25-23, GORDON)
- Suffolk gained an 8-3 lead capped off by a kill from Emerson Martin.
- Gordon climbed back and equalized the frame at 11-11, before turning the tide in its favor, 13-11.
- The Fighting Scots did not stop there as they built an eight-point advantage, 21-13.
- Another talk from Blanchard proved to work in the blue-and-gold's favor as the hosts scored six straight to make things interesting, 21-19, and force Gordon to its first timeout of the night.
- Despite its efforts, the Rams were held off by the Fighting Scots to slip in the set, 25-23, and the match.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Martin anchored the attack with an eight-kill effort to go along with four digs.
- Kayla Barbera had an all-around night with five digs, four kills, two aces and one assist.
- Sarah Mullahy registered six kills, two aces and two blocks.
- Harmony Johnson contributed 19 handouts, six digs, two kills and one block.
- Fabiano pitched in four kills, two digs, one block and one handout.
- Dakhensey Marcellus added 10 digs, two aces and one handout.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk and Gordon met for the ninth time overall.
