Suffolk’s Volleyball Coach Ducharme to Step Down

BOSTON – Bonny Ducharme, head coach of the Suffolk volleyball team for the past three seasons, has announced she will step down from her post.

Ducharme, who completed her third season with the Rams this fall, cited personal reasons for her decision to step down.

"Although I have very much enjoyed my time coaching the past three seasons at Suffolk, and working alongside the whole athletic department, I think it is best for me to focus my time to my newborn son," Ducharme said in a release.

Ducharme, who took the reins of the Rams program in 2015, was tasked with turning the program around. In three seasons, Ducharme posted a 32-52 overall and 13-21 slate in GNAC action. The Rams returned to the conference tournament in 2016 and put together their first back-to-back appearances in the tournament's field since vying for eight straight conference crowns from 1999-2006.

Ducharme capped off her tenure this season with the most successful Suffolk volleyball season since 2013 at 13-16 overall and 6-6 in GNAC play in 2017. The 13 victories mark the fourth time since 2003 Suffolk won 13 matches or more and mark the most wins since 2013, while the six league wins are the most since defeating eight league foes in 2005. Throughout the run, the Rams recorded their first-ever win over Emmanuel Sept. 27 and strung together three consecutive conference wins to mark the longest league win streak since rattling off four Oct. 19-29, 2005.

"I wish the Suffolk volleyball team every success in the future and thank the department for the opportunity I was given during my time here."
