NASHUA, N.H. – Talia Lombardo and Chidera Nwankwo registered six kills and four kills, respectively, but the Suffolk women's volleyball team fell to the two-time defending GNAC Champions Rivier, 3-0, Wednesday night at Muldoon Gymnasium.

Jane Buckley scored three kills for Suffolk (4-13, 1-5 GNAC), with Liz Kerek tallying eight assists. Defensively, Lombardo led the Rams with nine digs, while Bridget Allison, Heidy Barreiro and Caitlyn Mockler each had three.

Jackie Piesecco notched a match-high eight kills on .250 hitting to help Rivier (14-4, 3-0 GNAC) remained undefeated in the GNAC.

Despite four kills from Lombardo in the first set, the Rams fell to the Raiders, 25-16. Suffolk hung tough with Rivier through the opening frame  as things evened at 7-all. The Rams were unable to take the lead, however, as the hosts tallied six of the next eight points to jump ahead 13-9. Rivier went on to score 12 of the final 17 points to a take the first set.

Rivier came out strong in the second stanza, jumping out to an 8-1 lead. Suffolk put together three straight points, but the Raiders strung together multiple point runs to maintain and take a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-13 second set victory.

The Rams could not rally in the third frame, and a Lombardo service error sealed the sweep with a 25-13 victory in set three.

Suffolk will host its first tri-match inside Regan Gymnasium Saturday when it entertains Plymouth State (11 a.m.) and Salem State (3 p.m.)
