Volleyball Falls to Curry and Emerson

BOSTON – The Suffolk volleyball team crossed the Boston Common Saturday afternoon for a non-conference tri-match against Curry and Emerson. The Rams were defeated by the Colonels 3-1, before falling in straight sets to the hosts Lions. 

In the opener, Suffolk (4-12) fell in the first set, 25-19, before coming back to take the second stanza, 25-22. Curry (7-8) rattled back-to-back set victories to secure the 3-1 victory. The Rams were led by a double-double effort by Talia Lombardo. The freshman notched her fourth double-double of the season on 11 kills and 11 digs. Chidera Nwankwo chipped in nine kills with Bridget Allison adding 11 digs and six kills. 

In the Rams final match of the day against Emerson (9-6), Suffolk fell in straight sets, 25-12, 25-15 and 25-16. Lombardo once against paced the Rams defensively with 16 digs, while her classmate Allison led the way offensively with five kills. 

Suffolk returns to GNAC action Wednesday when it heads to Nashua, New Hampshire for a 7 p.m. match at Rivier.
