Volleyball Wraps Up Regular season With 3-0 Victory

The Suffolk University Women's Volleyball team closed out the 2014 regular season with a 3-0 victory over Norwich University on Saturday afternoon as part of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match hosted by Emmanuel College.

Senior Katie Matatall (Danville, N.H.) paced Suffolk's offense in the victory as she finished the game with a team-high seven kills for the Rams to go along with nine digs.

Suffolk took sets one and three by 25-22 scores as they added a 25-19 victory in set number two to finish out the season finale with the win.

Senior Glamarys Sierra (Carolina, Puerto Rico) recorded 16 settings assists in game two to go along with a team-high 11 digs. Sierra rounds out her four year career with 1,299 setting assists which places her second all-time in program history.

The Rams opened the afternoon with a 3-0 setback to the host Saints, who ended up clinching the top seed in the upcoming GNAC Tournament with the doubleheader sweep on Saturday.

Freshman Krista Iacobucci (Rocky Hill, Conn.) finished with a team-high six kills in game one to go along with 10 digs.

Sierra also had a strong game as she pulled in 17 assists, 10 digs and a team-high four service aces.

Matatall also added five kills in game one bringing her total to 12 on the afternoon.

With the split Suffolk finishes off the 2014 season with a 8-22 overall record. They were 3-8 in GNAC play on the year.
