Suffolk Blanked By Blue Jays

The University of Saint Joseph picked up their seventh victory in as many game in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over host Suffolk University.

Senior Ciara Perez (Manchester, Conn.) and junior Tiffany Mapusaga (Waianae, Hawaii) each recorded 11 kills in the contest for the Blue Jays who up their season record to 14-3 on the year.

Saint Joseph took all three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-15.

Freshman Krista Iacobucci (Rocky Hill, Conn.) led Suffolk with six kills on the day, while senior Glamarys Sierra (Carolina, Puerto Rico) notched 12 setting assists.

Senior Justine Walicki (Bristol, Conn.) led all players with three service aces for the Blue Jays, while junior EMily Vigue (Lebanon, Conn.) finished with a team-high 11 digs on the defensive side.

Junior Yabriel Perez (Boston, Mass.) led all players defensively with 19 digs on the afternoon.

Both teams will be back on the court on Wednesday evening. The Blue Jays will host Pine Manor College at 7:00pm. Suffolk hosts Johnson & Wales University at 7:00pm in GNAC action.
