Wentworth Tops Volley 3-0 On Tuesday

The Wentworth Institute of Technology defeated Suffolk University 3-0 in women's volleyball action at the Regan Gymnasium on Tuesday evening.

Junior Hannah Bailey (Plymouth, Mass.) finished the evening leading all players with nine kills to help pace the Leopards to their sixth victory in ten matches on the season.

Wentworth swept through the three game match with set victories of; 25-13, 25-21 and 25-13.

Three players for Suffolk tied for a team-high with four kills a piece on the evening. Freshman Jane Buckley (Plaistow, N.H.) recorded four kills and also had a team-high three solo blocks on the night. Freshman Krista Iacobucci (Rocky Hill, Conn.) posted four kills along with 11 digs, while senior Katie Matatall (Danville, N.H.) also chipped in with four kills.

Freshman Sydney Meyers (Arnold, Md.) notched seven kills on the evening for the Leopards while posting a team-high six digs. Senior Shannon Ponce (San Jose, Calif.) led all players on the evening with 14 setting assists.

Both teams will be back in action this upcoming Saturday.

Wentworth will host a tri-match as they welcome Lesley University and Worcester State University.

Suffolk will travel to Salem State University for a non-conference matchup with the Vikings beginning at 1:00pm.
