Volleyball Splits Tri-Match at JWU

The Suffolk University Volleyball team split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match on Monday afternoon hosted by the Johnson & Wales University Wildcats.

Suffolk dropped their opener 3-2 to the host Wildcats after rallying from down two sets before sweeping the Mount Ida College Mustangs, 3-0.

The win moves Suffolk to a 12-12 overall mark on the season under first year Head Coach Kristine Mickelson, their highest win total in three seasons.

Freshman Savannah Carpenter (Weston, Conn.) recorded 18 kills total in the two matches, including 11 in the three game sweep over the Mustangs.

Suffolk swept the Mustangs by scores of 25-12 in the first two sets before closing it out with a 25-20 third set victory.

Senior Colbey Kennedy (Old Lyme, Conn.) recorded eight digs in Suffolk's win, while also collecting 16 in their previous match against JWU for a total of 24 on the afternoon.

Suffolk will be back in action on Thursday evening as they host Gordon College in non-conference action at the Regan Gymnasium at 7:00pm.
