The Suffolk University Volleyball team won the David Hildebrand Memorial Invitational hosted by Newbury College this weekend as they topped the host Nighthawks 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Tori Brillaud (North Andover, Mass.) finished Saturday's five set match with a game-high 20 kills to lift the Rams to a perfect sweep through the tournament bringing their overall season record to 3-3. Brillaud led the Rams in kills in all three matches in the tournament as she tallied 50 total over the weekend set.

It was a back and forth contest on Saturday afternoon as the Rams took sets one and three, while Newbury won the tiebreaker in set two, 27-25 before forcing the deciding set with a 25-21 win in set four. The Rams would clinch the tournament victory with a 15-11 win in the fifth set as Brillaud and senior Hailey Atkinson (Branford, Conn.) each recorded a pair of kills, while Atkinson also chipped in with a service ace.  Atkinson also recorded 15 kills total in the contest to go along with 20 digs. Both she and senior Colbey Kennedy (Old Lyme, Conn.) led the Rams on the defensive side each recording 20 digs. Freshman Savannah Carpenter (Weston, Conn.) chipped in with 11 kills on the day while also recording two solo blocks and assisting on two more.

Suffolk defeated Albertus Magnus College 3-1 on Friday and Bard College, 3-0.

Brillaud was strong in the victory over Albertus as she recorded 19 kills and 19 digs in the contest.

The win also marked the first in the career of new Head Coach Kristine Mickelson.

Suffolk will be back in action on Tuesday evening as they travel to Mass. Maritime Academy for a 7:00pm non-conference matchup with the Buccaneers.
