Volleyball Drops Home Opener to Wentworth, 3-1

The Suffolk University Volleyball team fell to cross-town Wentworth Institute of Technology on Wednesday evening by a 3-1 deficit in their first match of the season in their home Regan Gymnasium.

Junior Hailey Atkinson (Branford, Conn.) led the Rams on the evening with 11 kills, while junior Colbey Kennedy (Old Lyme, Conn.) continued to be strong on defense leading the team with 22 digs.

Suffolk fell in game one 25-18, before evening the match in the second game with a 25-21 victory. The Leopards were victorious in the following two sets 25-20 and 25-23 to close out their first victory of the young season, while the Rams now drop to 1-3.

Sophomore Tori Brillaud (North Andover, Mass.) had four kills on the evening with a team-high four service aces and 21 digs. Senior Hannah Davis (Haverhill, Mass.) collected five kills, while sophomore Glamarys Sierra (Carolina, Puerto Rico) had 13 assists on the evening and seven digs.



The Rams will travel to Newbury College on Saturday for a tournament and take on the host Nighthawks at 11:00am.
