Suffolk Stops Simmons 3-1

The Suffolk University Volleyball Team (6-8 overall) defeated Simmons College with a score of 3-1 on Thursday night.

The Rams took the Sharks to "chomping" 4 sets to take the first win in at least four years. Jacqueline Dugas (Freshman from Saratoga Springs, NY) and Melissa Griffin (Junior from Byfield, MA) ran the offense with 8 and 7 total kills for the match. However, it wouldn't have been possible without the help of Suffolk setter Julie Sullivan (Senior from Haverill, MA) who had a total of 25 assists for the night.

Griffin and Maggie Hillman (Freshman from North Andover, MA) led the first set with 4 and 3 kills, aiding in the narrow win of 25-21.

Suffolk continued their drive in the second set taking over the Sharks in a 25-13 victory. However, the Rams fell behind in the third set losing with a score of 12-25.

This, however, did not stop the drive and determination of the team. The Rams battled back in the 4th set with the help of Dugas's 5 kills and Hailey Atkinson's (Freshman from Branford, CT) and Griffin's 6 digs each, winning the set 25-20.

Kelly Loder (Senior from Billerica, MA) and Dugas led the defense with 6 blocks a piece, while Griffin and Dugas, again, aided with 16 and 19 digs.
