Manfra Makes All-Region, Women’s Indoor Competes at New Englands

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Emily Manfra highlighted the Rams of Suffolk women's indoor track & Field at the NCAA Division III New England Championship over the weekend at Middlebury's Field House.

In her third trip to the regional race, Manfra collected All-New England honors from the New England Coaches Association for the second straight season in the mile. The senior from Stoneham, Massachusetts, produced her first sub-5:00.0 mile at New Englands, clocking in at 4:57.46 to finish as the 27-runner field runner-up. The long-distance runner was 3.3 behind individual champion Sydney Packard of WPI. Manfra's performance was a personal-best at the regional race.

Mariama Kamarashaved .01 second off her 60-meter dash from her second regional appearance. This season, the senior from Chelsea, Massachusetts finished the spring in 8.06 to finish 16th out of the 24 opponents.

Allison Rodrigues put together her best showing at New Englands in her career with her second straight trip in the shot put. Her 11.39 toss put her 12th in the field of 23, both of which are personal-bests.

The trio of Kamara, Manfra and Rodrigues combined for a team finish of 19th, which marks a program high. The Rams were the only GNAC team to place as a team at the event, which had 26 team finishes, and featured student-athletes from Emmanuel and Regis.

Emma Weisse made the filed in the 5000, but did not compete.

Suffolk has one more chance to seal its spot at nationals, Tufts' Last Chance National Qualifier, which is on the calendar for Saturday, March 7 at Gantcher Field House.
