BOSTON – Suffolk women's tennis puts on its hosting hat one final time Tuesday, Oct. 8 when it welcomes Emerson to The Rivers School in Weston, Massachusetts, for a 3:30 p.m. dual.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's tennis wrapped up its Conference of New England (CNE) regular-season schedule in winning fashion as the Rams defeated Western New England, 5-2, Saturday afternoon at Forest Park Tennis Courts.  

The win was not only the blue-and-gold's first of the year and of the Zack Goodstein era, but marked the first time Suffolk defeated the Golden Bears.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk broke into the win column Saturday with a 5-2 victory over Conference of New England (CNE) foe Western New England. The decision put the blue-and-gold at 1-8 on the year and 1-5 in CNE contests.  

The Rams' ace Caren Urbano is 2-7 on the season. She is one of four players to produce a singles point this year. Elene Nishniandize is the most successful singles racquet at 4-5 on courts five (0-1) and six (4-4). Chloe Pszenny is 3-6 in singles action with time on the fourth (0-1) and fifth (3-5) slot. Like Urbano, Rachel Hill sports a 2-7 singles ledger at No. 3 (0-1) and NO. 4 (2-6). 

In doubles, the tandem of Nia Bebb and Hill hold a 4-4 record in the second slot. Nishniandize and Pszenny have partnered in the last two duals as the third partnership and are unbeaten, 2-0. Urbano and Megha Tenneti have competed as Suffolk's top team and are 1-8 on the year.  

LIONS LOOK
Emerson is 0-4 on the season. The Lions fell to Simmons, 5-2, and were swept by Colby Sawyer, Welesley and Gordon.  

Jayden Beverly is the only Emerson player to produce a point in singles play. She is 1-3 on the season and earned her triumph in the sixth spot. Beverly has played at No. 6 1-0) and No. 5 (0-3). Amaya Briones has competed as the Lions ace all season.  

Doubles wise, three partnerships have found their way in the win column in Chase Stinson and Briones (1-1), Briones and Kendi Bispham (1-0) and Carlson Jones and Alisa Pimenova (1-2).  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Emerson renew a rivalry, meeting for the first time since 2018. 
  • Since 2007, Suffolk trails the series, 6-7. 
  • The Lions have won the last two meetings by identical 6-3 margins. 
  • Suffolk's last win over Emerson came in a 7-2 decision Oct. 16, 2015.
