BOSTON – With one match under its belt, the Suffolk women's tennis team turns its attention to the conference competition as the Rams entertain Colby Sawyer in their GNAC opener Saturday, Sept. 7. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Rams season opener did not go as planned as the Suffolk women's tennis team landed on the wrong side of a 6-3 decision to Wentworth Thursday night at the Belmont Hill School.

RAMS RUNDOWN
One day removed from its season debut, Suffolk sits 0-1 on the year.  

Three Rams were responsible for the points Thursday night. Ilda Ascic's racquet had a hand in two as she teamed up with her co-captain Kendall Smith for a doubles win on the first court and captured the top singles court as well. Alyssa Blade tallied a singles point from the fifth spot in her collegiate debut.  

CHARGERS CATCHUP
Colby Sawyer enters Saturday's showdown 0-2 on the year after slipping to Gordon, 6-3, and Endicott, 7-2.  

Yashu Yang has played exclusively as the Chargers ace over the pair of 2019 matches and holds a 2-0 mark to be the winningest singles player thus far. Alexa Conlin (1-1) is the only other student-athlete to have registered a singles win with her decision coming from the second slot.  

Conlin and Yang partner up for Colby Sawyer's top tandem and enter the weekend with an unbeaten 2-0 mark.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

• The Suffolk, Colby Sawyer series is one of the oldest in the Rams' record books, dating back to 1993. 
• The Rams remain in the hunt for their first-ever win over the Chargers as they trail the series, 0-4. 
• Suffolk has been swept in back-to-back meetings with the Chargers including last season's Sept. 8 bout. 
• The Rams have only scored one point versus Colby Sawyer all time with that coming in 1994.  

COMING UP
Suffolk wraps up a season-opening, three-match homestand Monday, Sept. 9 when it entertains Roger Williams. The non-conference clash is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
