Women’s Tennis Defeats Wentworth, 6-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Suffolk women's tennis team snapped its five-match skid Thursday night when the Rams downed Wentworth, 6-3, at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk took a 2-1 lead into doubles play and quickly locked up the victory with wins on courts one, two and six, respectively. The Rams went on to take another win in the fifth spot for the final 6-3 tally.

SUFFOLK STANDOUTS

  • Aidiana Sagyndykova and Elena Cisneros Garcia partnered up for the third time this season in the second spot. The senior and sophomore tandem quickly cruised past the Leopards' team of Olivia DeLuca and Emily Jodoin, 8-2, to put Suffolk on the scoreboard.

  • On court one doubles, Valentina Medina and Isabel Rathlev posted an identical 8-2 score against Caitlyn Briggs and Sam Webb to make it a 2-0 Suffolk match.

  • Just like doubles, Sagyndykova's court finished first in singles action. The Rams' ace brought down Briggs, 6-1, 6-1, to increase Suffolk's lead to 3-1.

  • Medina quickly followed in the second spot. The junior put together a 6-1, 6-1, victory over DeLuca to stretch the Rams' lead to three, 4-1.

  • Jacquelyn Nakamura secured the triumph for the Rams when the junior defeated Kelsey DeGouveia, 6-4, 6-1, on the sixth court.

  • Danlyn Medou also earned a singles victory. At No. 5, the freshman downed Ellen Butts, 6-2, 6-0.

Sagyndykova and Medina will represent Suffolk in singles and doubles action at the ITA New England Regional Tournament hosted at MIT this weekend.
