BOSTON – The Suffolk women's tennis team's 2016 slate gets underway Tuesday, Sept. 6 as the Rams entertain Rhode Island at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Suffolk women's tennis team fell to Rhode Island College, 5-4, in its season opener Tuesday night at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols. 

The Rams fell in a 1-2 hole after doubles action and the Anchromen won three of the first four singles matches to the seal the victory.

RUNDOWN ON THE RAMS
Suffolk's top two racquets in co-captains Aidiana Sagyndykova and Valentina Medina continued to prove their prowess on the clay for the Rams. 

Medina shined in both doubles and singles and was the lone player in blue-and-gold to win two matches on the first day of competition. The junior partnered with Isabel Rathlev for an 8-5 doubles win on the first court and followed that with a 7-6, 6-1 singles win in Suffolk's second spot. 

Sagyndykova held down Suffolk's top spot with a three-set victory. Danlyn Medou, meanwhile, picked up her first collegiate win in Suffolk's sixth slot with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 triumph. 

SOMETHING 'BOUT THE SEAHAWKS
Similar to Suffolk, Salve Regina carries a 0-1 record into Thursday's match as the Seahawks also fell to Rhode Island College in their season opener, 7-2. 

Salve Regina picked up a win on the third doubles and sixth singles court. In doubles, Taylor Amednola and Anna Godshalk earned the win, while Sarah Kraus is the lone Seahawk to own a singles victory this season. 

WHAT'S NEXT?
Suffolk takes to the road for the first time this season as the Rams travel to future GNAC member Regis Saturday, Sept. 10 for a 12 p.m. match.
