Women’s Soccer Soars to Fourth Straight Win, Shutouts Fitchburg State, 5-0

EAST BOSTON – Suffolk women's soccer saw four different Rams pour in five goals and Sophia Barker stopped both shots she faced in net to push the Rams to their fourth straight win, a 5-0 shutout over Fitchburg State Tuesday night at East Boston Memorial Park's James A. Sartori Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk's first goal of the evening came less than four minutes in when Makena Columbus used help from Angelina Giovanni and Mackenzie Metka to put the blue-and-gold on the board at the 3:46 mark.  

Twelve minutes later the sophomore struck again, this time on a feed from Avery Porter to extend the margin to a pair. 

Porter scored her own in the 30th minute to pad the distance to 3-0, where the score stayed at intermission. 

Madelyn Murray etched her name on the scoresheet with a goal in the 62nd minute thanks to help from Charli Adams

The Rams' final goal of the night came with less than seven minutes left when Lily Goldmann put away an unassisted marker for the lopsided 5-0 decision.  

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

  • Barker had two saves in the shutout. 
  • Madison Dawkins had six saves in the setback.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Columbus was responsible for two goals. 
  • Porter had one goal and one assist. 
  • Murray and Goldmann potted one goal each. 
  • Giovanni, Metka, and Adams logged one assist apiece. 
  • Suffolk outshot Fitchburg State, 17-7.
