EAST BOSTON – Caleigh O'Brien netted her sixth goal of the season, but it would not be enough as the Suffolk women's soccer team could not overcome an early second-half score by St. Joseph (Conn.) to fall to the Blue Jays, 2-1, Saturday afternoon at East Boston Memorial Park's James A. Sartori Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The scoring started in transition as O'Brien converted on a go-ahead pass from Addisyn Lanza. On the breakaway, O'Brien drew the goalie out of the net and powered a shot to the back of the net for an early edge for the blue-and-gold just over five minutes into the action.
Rylee Snow leveled the playing field in the 38th minute. Dribbling through traffic, Snow powered in her first goal of the season on a wide kick that Allison Rodrigues made a dive for, but fell just short to put ones on the scoreboard.
St. Joseph powered out of the locker room and put Rodrigues to work right away. Their persistence paid off as the Blue Jays found themselves in front at the 53:06-minute mark as Sierra Romie turned a breakaway into her first goal of the season.
Romie's strike proved to be the difference maker as Suffolk could not find its way on the board thee remainder of the way.
KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS
- Rodrigues put together a six-save effort.
- Megan Ricci earend the victory thanks to a four-save performance.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- USJ held advantage in shots, 15-9, while the Rams were more accurate with their attempts putting six shots on target compared to the Blue Jays four.
- Suffolk had one more corner opportunity than St. Joseph (Conn.), 5-4.
NOTEWORTHY
- O'Brien has scored 42.9 percent (6-14) of Suffolk's goals and is now on a two-game point streak, scoring in back-to-back outings.
