#1 Lasell Ends #8 Women’s Soccer Season in GNAC Quarterfinals, 3-1

NEWTON, Mass. – Lasell avenged its lone conference setback of the season as the top-seeded Lasers handed the eighth-seeded Rams of Suffolk women's soccer a 3-1 setback in the GNAC quarterfinals Saturday afternoon at Taylor Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the 30th minute, Carly Zdanek scored her first of two goals, weaving through the Rams defense before finishing top right corner. Zdanekc added another tally just five minutes later on a launched shot from 20 yards out to give the Lasers a 2-0 lead. 

Caitlin Rotonelli added an insurance goal in the 53rd minute, heading in a textbook pass from freshman Rachel Hogan just outside the box. 

Suffolk broke Lasell's hope of a clean sheet in in the79th minute, as Rams' leading scorer Alexandra Nagri cut the Lasers lead to 3-1, finishing in the top right corner from the top of the box. 

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

  • Julia Fieldsend had 13 saves in the playoff setback.
  • Sarah LaClair made two saves in the victory. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
Lasell outshot Suffolk, 33-7, including a 15-2 advantage over the first 45 minutes. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Nagri pushed her career total points to 103 thanks to her 15th goal of the season. The senior sits second all-time in Suffolk history with 103 points.
