EAST BOSTON – Senior co-captains Jennifer Martin and Alexandra Nagri had a hand in every single Suffolk goal to lead the Rams in a 5-3 victory against Norwich Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park. 

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 5, Norwich 3

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk put away three goals over a nine-minute period, all thanks to the combination of Martin and Nagri, to build a 3-0 cushion. Norwich slowly chipped away at the advantage and potted back-to-back unanswered goals over five minutes to trim the deficit to 3-2 before the 30-minute mark. 

The score stayed true over the final 15 minutes in the first frame as Suffolk maintained its 3-2 edge heading into halftime. 

The deadly combination of Nagri and Martin continued to pile on the points in the second stanaza as the two each netted another goalie apiece to bring the Rams' advantage back to two goals. Thanks to goal on the corner, Norwich made it a 5-3 game, but did not come any closer as the Rams held on for the 5-3 win. 

GOALS

• After the Cadets were whistled for a foul, Martin sent a high corner into the cluster in fron of the net. Nagri waited for the rock to hit the turf and easily slide the ball past Leandra Flores-Nieves to make it a 1-0 Suffolk game just 12 minutes into the action.
• Six minutes later, Nagri came up the right side found Martin cutting into the box at the 18-yard line. Martin fired and connected in the upper left corner to stretch the Rams' lead to two tallies.
• The score moved to 3-0 in the 21st minute in favor of the blue-and-gold as Martin and Nagri combined once again. Martin ripped an attempt on target, but Flores-Nieves smacked it off target. Nagri was there and easily sent it into the net for her second strike of the day.
• The Cadets trimmed the Rams' advantage to 3-1 in the 25th minute. With a group in front of Julia Fieldsend, Madison Oelker snipped one just over Fieldsend's glove to make it a 3-1 contest.
• Things became interesting right before the clock struck 15. Kyra Schoenfeld's shot was initially denied by Fieldsend, but the ball trickled by the sophomore keeper after she blocked it with her hands to give Norwich its second goal of the afternoon.   
• Martin set up Nagri on a cross and the Salem, New Hampshire product connected once again to compete her hat trick in the 54th minute.
• For her second strike of the day the Higganum, Connecticut, native booted from 20 yards out after beating the Cadets defender and beat Flores-Nieves for her fourth goal of the season in the 78th minute.
• Ashley Carvalho sniped a goal on a corner with 6:30 minutes remaining to make it 5-3 game. 

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

• Fieldsend made seven saves to improve to 3-2-0 on the season.
• Flores-Nieves stopped 11 attempts in the setback, slipping to 0-4-0 on the year. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

• Suffolk held the advantage in shots, 28-12, shots on goal, 16-10.
• Norwich, meanwhile, held the edge in corners, 5-4. 

NOTEWORTHY

• Suffolk improved to 8-3 versus Norwich all-time.
• The Rams won their eighth straight contest against the Cadets.
• Suffolk remains unbeaten versus Norwich in the Darren Lloyd era, improving to 3-0.
• Suffolk won back-to-back games for the first time in 2017.
• Nagri's three goal of the season stretched her point streak to two straight games.
• Nagri produced a hat trick becoming the first Ram to do so this season and first since she accomplished the feat in a 7-1 win over Pine Manor Oct. 17, 2016.
• Nagri has put together four hat trick outings throughout her collegiate career.
• The seven points match a career high for Nagri.
• Martin extended her point streak to two straight contests and recorded a career-best three assists.
