EAST BOSTON – Suffolk women's soccer did what no GNAC counterpart has been able to do in five years, defeat Lasell, as the Rams blanked the Lasers, 2-0, Wendesday night James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Led by senior leadership, the Rams took a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute of action. Alexandra Nagri's goal and Suffolk's defense sent the blue and gold into intermission ahead by one marker.

Jennifer Martin's strike just two minutes into the second stanza stretched Suffolk's lead to two tallies. 

From there, the backline anchored by superb goaltending from sophomore Julia Fieldsend kept Lasell quiet to secure the 2-0 victory. 

GOALS

• Nagri stormed up the middle on a feed from Bela Binggeli and snuck the rock past Sarah LaClair's glove in the bottom left of the net to give Suffolk a 1-0 edge on her first goal of the season.
• Martin created her own shot from the right wing. The senior co-captain sniped the top left corner to make it a two-goal game. 

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

• Fieldsend improved to 2-2-0 on the season with a nine-save performance.
• LaClair dipped to 4-4-0 on the year despite a four-save effort. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

• Lasell outshot the Rams, 16-10, with a 9-6 edge in shots on target.
• Both teams had two corner kick opportunities, all of which came over the first 45 minutes. 

NOTEABLES

• Suffolk picked up its first-ever win over Lasell in a series that dates back to 2007.
• The victory also marks the first time the Lasers fell to a GNAC opponent since a 1-0 setback to Saint Joseph (Conn.), Oct. 15, 2012, which also marks the last time Lasell has been shut out by a league foe.    
• The two-goal victory for Suffolk ties the second-largest league triumph over the Lasers, which Emmanuel set twice, first Sept. 15, 2007 (3-10) and again in the quarterfinals Nov. 2, 2008 (3-1). The two-goal margin is the biggest since Norwich blanked Lasell, 4-0, Oct. 17, 2009.
• The Rams scored twice versus Lasell for the first time in program history.
• Fieldsend recorded her first collegiate shutout in between the pipes.
• Binggeli registered the first points of her collegiate career.
• The cleansheet marks the first for Suffolk in 2017 and first since keeping Mt. Ida off the scoreboard in a 5-0 win over the Mustangs Oct. 15, 2016.
• Under Darren Lloyd Suffolk has shutout six opponents.
