BOSTON – Trailing 2-0, the Suffolk women's hockey team sprung back with two unanswered goals to force overtime with the UMass Boston Saturday afternoon at Edward T. Barry Arena. Neither of the New England Hockey Conference foes could lit the lamp in the extra session and the conference clash ended in a 2-2 stalemate.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons got on the board early, just 2:14 into the contest. Katie Leffler shoveled the puck off the board behind the net to Cailey Kozich on the opposite side and Kozich fed Emily Harris just in front of the crease for a one-time shot that beat Kristen Caporusso shortside.  

The Rams would turn the tide for the rest of the period and pepper Alyssa DePippo to no avail as the senior goaltender stopped all 10 shots she faced to keep the Beacons ahead 1-0 after 20 minutes.  

UMass Boston grew into the game to start the second and doubled their lead at 8:06. ON the same shift she was denied on a tremendous forehand chance, Leffler skated in one-on-one with the goalie and waited for Caporusso's to make her move, before lifting a backhand inside the near post. Harris and Bri Colucci earned assists on the play.  

Suffolk answered back just 3:35 later on the powerplay. DePippo stopped Madison Duff's initial shot from the point, but the rebound fell right to Shana Cote, who slipped the puck inside the post as she was falling to the ice.  

The Rams evened the game just 2:14 into the third. After the Beacons turned the puck over in their own zone on an attempted breakout, Cote found Payton Dockus wide open at the top of the slot and Dockus' shot flew just over DePippo's left shoulder for a 2-2 tie.  

Each team had their chances down the stretch, but Caporusso and DePippo each did not relinquish another goal for the remainder of regulation and over the extra session to ensure the 2-2 draw. 

NETMINDER NOTES

• Caporusso made 29 saves to move to 2-1-1 on the season. 
• DePippo stopped 30 of the 32 shots she faced.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

• Cote finished the afternoon outing with a multi-point effort on one goal and one assist. 
• Dockus scored one goal of the Rams and Duff earned one assist in the outing. 
• Suffolk held a 32-31 edge in shots. 
• The Beacons won the battle in the face-off circle, 41-30. 

NOTEWORTHY

• Suffolk and UMass Boston met for the first time. 
• The Rams played in their first overtime game in program history. 
• Caporusso made a career-high 29 saves in OT outing. 
• Duff extended her point streak to four. During that span she has recorded seven points on one goal and six handouts. 
• Cote and Dockus each pushed their point streaks to three. Dockus has picked up six points over the last three games on a trio of markers and helpers, respectively, while Cote registered four points on three goals and one handout.

LOOKING AHEAD
Suffolk will take a week off for the Thanksgiving holiday and will be back in next Friday, Nov. 30 when the Rams welcome Plymouth State to Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Rink for a 5 p.m. conference clash.
