Women’s Golf Takes Fourth at NEIGAs

BREWSTER, Mass. – Suffolk women's golf wrapped up its 2024 fall slate with a fourth-place performance at the eighth New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship over the weekend at The Captains Golf Course.

The Rams were just off the podium in fourth out of 11 institutions with a two-day score of 685. Babson won the regional crown with a 614 with last year's winner Wellesley finishing as runner-up with a 636. Bates rounded out the top three with a 644.

Suffolk's showing was the best of the Northeast Women's Golf Conference programs on the cape as it topped Husson (sixth – 777), Keene state (eighth – 824) and Westfield State (11th – 962).

The blue-and-gold's performance was also the best of the future Conference of New England programs including Hartford (fourth – 752), Nichols (seventh- 778) and Gordon (10th – 943).

Suffolk's team performance of fourth is the best since it won the 2021 title. It is the fifth time in program history that the Rams turned in a top-four showing at the regional tournament.

Brooke Bugajewski was the top Ram on the course. The sophomore finished 10th in the 58-golfer field. She was tied for 13th after day one when she shot an 84. Today, the Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, native compiled an 18-hole card of 79 to finish with a 36-hole score of 163 (+19). The 10th-place showing is the best by a Suffolk golfer at the regional event since Isabel Smith won the event in 2021. The Rams' captain was the best NWGC performer at the event.

Krisna Mahendran was one spot behind Bugajewskin in 11th. She finished with a 164 (+20). It is the best performance by a Suffolk freshman at NEIGAs since Sophia Koester shared third with Suffolk's own McKenzie McGrath in 2018.

Ella Torsleff turned in her own NEIGA personal-best performance with finish (16th), 18-hole score (85) and two-day score (170) at NEIGAs of 16th.

Emory Goodson took 25th in her NEIGA debut with a 188, while Clare Stackpole-McGrath shared 28th with a 192.

NEIGAs capped off Suffolk's seven-even fall calendar in which the blue-and-gold won three events and was the runner-up once. The Rams will return to the links this spring, where they aim to defend their NWGC Title and punch their tickets to NCAAs once again.
