Women’s Golf Grabs Second at NWGC Fall Classic

WILTON, N.Y. – Suffolk women's golf captured second at the Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC) Fall Classic Saturday.  

The Rams combined for a 371 on the 5,616-yard, par-72 card at the McGregor Links Country Club. SUNY Cortland topped the eight-team field with a score of 334.  

Individually, it was a blue-and-gold golfer that took home individual medalist honors as junior Isabel Smith shot seven over par to take 1st in the 42-golfer field. The Westford, Massachusetts, native had two birdies and seven bogeys on her scorecard.  

Smith's classmate Ellie Yarbrough shared third with an 83 (+11) behind 11 bogeys scattered over the 18-hole course. 

 Sophie Kiley finished 15th with a 101 and Olivia Lanci's 105 was good for a share of 19th to round out the top four Rams.  

Madison Scheinberg and Paige Irving were featured on the fairway as well. The former shot a 108, good for a tie for 23rd, while the latter carded a 115, which put the junior in 27th. 

Suffolk wraps up action in the Empire State Sunday, Oct. 2 at the NWGC Invitational.
